About This Project
This project represents one of the most critical infrastructure initiatives in Deir Ezzor Governorate since 2023. Funded and supported by Oxfam, it serves as a cornerstone for reconstruction efforts and the restoration of essential services for citizens following years of conflict.
Primary Objectives:
- Restore Essential Services: Rehabilitate major and secondary sewer networks that were severely damaged during the war.
- Improve Public Health: Reduce the risks of waterborne diseases spread by contaminated and stagnant water, positively impacting community health.
- Enhance Living Conditions: Ensure the safe disposal of wastewater, reducing environmental pollution, foul odors, and protecting water sources.
- Build Resilience: Strengthen the city’s critical infrastructure to be more resilient and to accommodate the return of displaced populations.
Project Scope of Work
- Excavation and Backfilling:Digging trenches for new pipes and backfilling them upon completion.
- Pipe Replacement and Rehabilitation:Removing damaged or blocked pipes and installing new pipes with suitable diameters and slopes HDPE & PVC.
- Network Cleaning and Venting: Cleaning existing lines of sediment and blockages and rehabilitating ventilation points.
- Installation and Rehabilitation of Manholes: Constructing new manholes or repairing and rehabilitating existing ones to ensure easy maintenance and inspection.
- Household Connections:Extending connections from the main network to eligible households where possible.
