About This Project
Project Overview
This project aims to supply and install integrated fire protection systems within the United Nations (UN) building in the Kafr Sousa area of Damascus. The project includes the installation of smoke fire detectors, automatic ceiling-mounted fire extinguishers, as well as manual fire extinguishers in various sizes. The detectors have been connected to the existing alarm network, while automatic extinguishers have been suspended in carefully selected locations to ensure optimal performance. Manual extinguishers have also been placed in strategic positions to facilitate easy access and use during emergencies.
Main Objectives
- Enhance public safety: Protect the lives of employees, staff, and visitors within the building from fire hazards through effective detection and suppression systems.
- Enable rapid fire response: Ensure early fire detection using smoke detectors, while providing both automatic and manual extinguishing means to handle emergencies quickly.
- Comply with safety standards: Equip the facility in line with the highest international fire protection standards, enhancing the building’s overall preparedness.
Scope of Work
- Supply and installation of smoke detectors: Install smoke detection devices throughout the building and connect them to the existing alarm network to ensure immediate alerts upon any smoke detection.
- Installation of automatic ceiling-mounted extinguishers: Suspend automatic fire extinguishers from the ceiling in well-studied locations to guarantee excellent and effective operation during a fire, without the need for human intervention.
- Supply and installation of manual extinguishers: Distribute manual fire extinguishers in various appropriate sizes at strategic locations within the building to ensure easy access and use by anyone during emergencies.
Expected Impacts
- Enhanced safety levels: The project will provide a safe and hazard-free working environment, boosting the confidence of employees and visitors.
- Reduced potential damages: Early detection and suppression will minimize material and human losses in the event of any fire.
- Permanent readiness: Strategically placed automatic and manual extinguishers will ensure a swift and effective response, preventing incidents from escalating.
- Number of beneficiaries: All building users, including employees, staff, and visitors, will benefit from this project, alongside enhanced protection of property and critical equipment within the facility.
