Project Overview
A project aimed at replacing and rehabilitating parts of the drinking water network in the Bab Bila area (Old Town), to improve the efficiency of water distribution and ensure a sustainable and safe supply of water to the residents of the area.
The project seeks to connect the implemented sections of the new network with the local collected wells via a main collection line, to provide a temporary and effective water supply to the area until the completion of the full rehabilitation of the entire water network and reservoirs, following years of war that have severely impacted the infrastructure.
Key Objectives
- Replace the damaged and deteriorated sections of the water network in Bab Bila – Old Town with a new network.
- Secure a temporary water supply for the area by connecting the new network to a main collection line from the local wells.
- Improve water distribution efficiency and reduce losses and interruptions.
- Ensure the continuity of safe water pumping until the completion of the full rehabilitation of the entire water system (networks and reservoirs).
Scope of Work
- Full replacement of the old water network with a new network made of HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) pipes suitable for drinking water and compliant with standard specifications.
- Installation of all necessary valves (gate, ball, butterfly) for flow control and isolation when needed.
- Installation of air release and drain valves to ensure efficient network operation and prevent air pockets or sediment accumulation.
- Execution of replacement works for parts of the drinking water network in Bab Bila – Old Town.
- Connection of the implemented network sections to the local collected wells via a main collection line.
- Provision of a temporary water supply to the area through this connection until the remaining parts of the network are completed.
- Full rehabilitation of the reservoirs associated with the network to ensure their readiness for full operation.
- Execution of all auxiliary and necessary works for the above items (excavation, backfilling, maintenance, etc.).
Technical Details
- Use of HDPE pipes suitable for drinking water, resistant to corrosion and rust, to ensure a long service life and high water quality.
- Installation of control valves and air release/drain valves according to the highest technical standards to ensure optimal pressure and flow management.
- Execution of connection works to the main well collection line with the highest standards of precision and quality.
- Consideration of field conditions in the Old Town during execution, with adherence to specific timelines to minimize service interruptions.
Expected Impact
- Improved quality and quantity of drinking water provided to the residents of Bab Bila, thanks to the use of safe HDPE pipes.
- Reduced interruptions and water losses through a more efficient network equipped with advanced control measures (valves and air release/drain valves).
- Provision of an effective temporary supply solution that ensures service continuity until the full project is completed.
- Service to thousands of families in Bab Bila and surrounding areas.
- Preparation of the infrastructure for the next phase of full network and reservoir rehabilitation.
